Dr Torsten Zuberbier
Dr. Torsten Zuberbier is head of the Allergie-Centrum-Charité located in the Department of Dermatology as well as speaker of the Comprehensive Allergy Center Charité. In addition, he is chairman of the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) and Secretary General of the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA²LEN). Dr. Zuberbier took up his studies of medicine in Antwerp/Belgium and finished his degree at the Freie Universität, Berlin. He completed his clinical and scientific education in the field of dermatology at the Charité Virchow Klinikum. He wrote his second, post-doctoral dissertation on the differentiation and function of human mast cells.
Dr. Zuberbier’s research in the field of dermatology and allergy focusses on the differentiation and function of human mast cells as well as urticaria, atopic eczema and food allergies. He has published more than 400 papers and is a member of numerous scientific bodies. In 2012, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Athens. The aim of his dedication to medicine is excellence in research and clinical practice for optimal treatment of patients with skin diseases and allergies.
